Wayfinding & Environmental Designer

On behalf of our Auckland-based client who is one of Aotearoa’s leading architectural firms, The Pond is looking for a talented and passionate Designer with a knack for bridging the gap between art, design, and the human experience.

You’ll be a self-motivated, ambitious, organised designer with a background in environmental graphics, wayfinding, exhibits, and signage. You’ll be a top conceptual thinker, be a wiz on the design tools and collaborate in a strong team to deliver beautiful wayfinding and environmental graphics for various, high-profile projects in the built environment. The ideal person will be able to translate brand and design into the physical format, overseeing wayfinding projects from planning to conception, and take point in projects and deadlines.

But it’s not just designing you’ll do – you’ll take lead within the Brand Design team, providing your expertise to a variety of architectural, design, and strategic projects. Day-to-day you’ll see yourself engaging with clients, initiating workshops, managing project programmes & deliverables, and building positive relationships with key stakeholders and clients within and outside of the business.

The breakdown  

We are looking for an accomplished designer with:

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with environmental graphics, wayfinding, and signage

Proven results and experience in…

• Strong conceptual ability with interesting fresh ideas
• Experience working in a design team or creative department
• Comfortable working with modelling software, a wiz on Adobe Creative Suite
• Creative in problem-solving, deadline-driven, and passionate about human-centred design
• Strong digital design background
• Ability to deliver quickly and assist with art working when required
• Strong design skills across typography, layout and spatial design
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive, smart with attention to detail
• Experience in modelling spatial designs in 3D software (highly desirable)
