Bio

After some words? I've got plenty. Big ones, small ones, plain ones, fancy ones. Powerful words, memorable words, words strung together to inform or delight ... or encourage the whipping out of credit cards.

With ten years’ experience in the art of the written word, I can create professional, polished copy about any subject. Or casual, rough-edged, sassy copy if that's your thing. Show me your audience, and I'll find the right words to catch and hold their attention - from CEOs to farmers to crazed Iron Maiden fans (fun job, that one).

I'm speedy on the nuts-and-bolts too, with a beady eye for detail. I'm good at quickly picking out errors, culling unnecessary padding, and ensuring consistent tone and flow. Through a lifelong fascination with the written word, I have excellent knowledge of spelling, grammar and syntax. I'm also SEO trained, with the ability to write for both humans and search engines. Read more.

Basically I'm wordy and nerdy, but still able to carry a conversation - so let's chat about what you need.

My Skills

Copywriting & Editorial

I'm proficient at writing for a variety of audiences, publications, and media: websites, emails, press releases, advertorials, direct mail copy, print ads, brochures, packaging copy, scripts, sales collateral, online surveys and presentation documents. I have a particular affinity for long copy, and I work fast.

I've worked on integrated campaigns, advertising material and brand strategies for well-known New Zealand clients such as The University of Auckland, Fonterra, Wendy’s, the Vodafone Warriors, The Rock FM, Goodman Fielder, Heinz Wattie’s, NZ Marine, Fertility Associates, Beds R Us and Liquorland.

Conceptual and Creative Thinking

I’m skilled in the generation and execution of creative concepts that invigorate and enrich brand experiences. In other words, my ideas aren't half bad either.

With a strong eye for layouts and what looks good – both in terms of aesthetics and readability – I always think carefully about how my words fit into the bigger brand story.

Digital Content

I have a background in website strategy, information architecture, content schedule creation and wireframe generation. This includes experience in:

• Researching, composing, writing, editing and proofreading copy.
• Developing content.
• Auditing SEO and social media presence
• Creating long-term content strategy plans
• Daily content updates

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

I have an extensive understanding of search engine marketing and search engine optimisation, with experience in:

• Crafting SEO-optimised content.
• Planning and presenting SEO copywriting workshops for clients.
• Carrying out comprehensive SEO audits and keyword research.
• Implementing and monitoring Google Analytics.
• Creating, optimising and managing paid search campaigns.
• Delivering monthly SEO progress reports.
• Managing ongoing link building efforts.

I'm best known for...
