Bio

Are you looking for quality writing and storytelling? Do you need someone to fix your content? Or perhaps you're trying to build digital products or services that are intuitive, simple and engaging?

I have 20 years of professional writing and strategic consulting experience in digital media, software/IT, marketing and business development.

My two main strengths are excellence and versatility - having worked across a wide variety of industries and with every type of media. I work closely with start-ups, large IT companies, web/ad agencies, corporate clients, government, NGOs and small businesses to help them tell their story. I've won dozens of copywriting, writing and design awards in Australasia, North America and Europe for projects I worked on or led; I've optioned a screenplay in the US and I've written for the PM.

I am always on the lookout for new challenges, new projects and interesting new people. Please get in touch with me so we can discuss your needs.

Service Line Lead - Web & Digital Strategy / Jun 2010 - Feb 2013 / Intergen

Wellington & Wairarapa, New Zealand

I was hired in mid-2010 to help develop and lead what was initially the Web Strategy business at Intergen. In short, my time was spent on three things - in roughly equal measure: 1. Projects; 2. Marketing; 3. Pre-sales. We grew from a team of one to a team of five (when I left in early 2013 to be a stay-at-home Dad) and worked on a range of enterprise-scale projects. There was already a busy, stable and talented design team in place when I started, and the Web & Digital Strategy business was able to augment, extend and broaden this offering to focus more on each organisation's unique business objectives.

The team worked across the digital spectrum on: websites, web apps, mobility, social, content, governance, intranets and bespoke software development (mostly .NET-based). At the time of writing (Feb 2013), there's a great team of Strategists and pure UX Designers in place. They service Australasia and North America, and will, I'm certain, continue to grow and produce excellent work. It was a great ride, and I was lucky to work with and learn from so many smart people.
