Xero is a high-growth global business valued at over $1.4 billion dollars. As a provider of design-led, cloud-based accounting software for small and medium-sized enterprises, Xero has been a huge success story. For Xero, the ability to create compelling, accessible and valuable content is vital. It attracts new customers and helps keep existing customers happy.

One of the key content platforms for Xero are their Small Business Guides, Accountant & Bookkeeper Guides and Checklists. These are conceived and written for business owners, accountants and bookkeepers. I work closely with Xero's content team and subject matter experts around the globe to write and produce these guides.

The guides must be written to meet Xero's excellent in-house readability, keyword density and style guidelines. Also, they must be carefully regionalised for Xero's different markets around the world. Each guide or checklist can be anywhere between 600 and 1,800 words depending on the topic and audience. The topics cover: software, payroll, marketing, management, technology, employment, tax, invoicing and other areas of interest to small and medium-sized enterprises.

The guides can require a lot of research, but they are fun to write and it's great working with a world-class team who are genuine content marketing experts.
