On behalf of our client, The Pond Recruitment Agency is looking for a Media Sales Executive with at least 3 years’ proven sales, account management or client service experience to join an independent NZ media company.

This position is an exciting challenge for a proven sales professional, highly skilled in nurturing, developing, and hunting strong client relationships. You’ll play an active and integral part in commercialising media channels across these titles and selling in and activating content-led brand and advertising campaigns. 

Day-to-day you will work alongside the Commercial Director to increase revenue through selling media & ad campaigns spanning magazines, websites, social platforms, and events. This will require an outgoing person, someone who is not afraid to pick up the phone or get in front of clients to pitch and sell in media advertising packages. You will be a keen relationship builder who understands the importance of building rapport, confident in your ability to support across all key clients, and maintain an organised pipeline - tracking all sales activities through the CRM system.

Maybe you’ve worked in the media, advertising, or marketing industry before, or maybe you just have a commercial knowledge of how this sector works and love for it. If you understand print (magazines/newspapers), broadcasting (tv/radio), ooh media (billboards/retail/street advertising), and digital media (websites/social) and how you can sell advertising space within these various mediums, then this is the role for you.

The breakdown

We are looking for someone experienced in:

  • Business Development – opening doors and closing deals
  • Develop and drive own sales pipeline – autonomous self-starter
  • Ability to activate a warm lead pool
  • B2B Sales background – understanding of the NZ media, content and advertising industries is advantageous
  • Pitching and closing like a true professional

Some key responsibilities are:

  • Develop and sell advertising packages across online, print, events, and content marketing
  • Collect advertising material and ensure it is correctly supplied and displayed on all channels
  • Leading sales activity, including in-person pitches & presentation
  • Work closely with the editorial and production team to conceive and deliver campaigns on time and on budget
  • Innovate and execute new creative strategies to increase revenue
  • Proven ability to solution sell and manage media packages
  • Supporting customer onboarding, success, and support function as needed
  • Maintain an organised pipeline and track all sales activities through the CRM system
  • Pursue agreed sales KPI’s with energy and passion
