Meet Phil.

He's a multi-award-winning motions graphics artist and 3D animator with a passion for creating television and film that kids love - and laugh at. One of his latest films, Fire in Cardboard City, has won accolades around the world and its spin-off show was recently released on TVNZ. With over 15 years experience in New Zealand and the UK, including for clients such as the BBC, Cartoon Network and the Discovery Channel, he's now available to lead animation and VFX teams or contribute to ongoing projects.

He was the writer, animator editor and director of short animation Fire in Cardboard City, which won New Zealand’s Show Me Shorts competition and went on to win awards at prestigious film festivals including Tribeca, LA Shorts and Cleveland. The story captured the imaginations of agents and directors around the world and we are currently in discussions with various industry executives on developing a feature. Creating the film was a brilliant experience and has positioned me to be able to direct complex stories with numerous elements, lead teams, develop budgets and drive marketing opportunities.

He has worked with several of New Zealand’s biggest media brands including TVNZ, Maori Television and NZME. He was responsible for conceiving, designing, animating and overseeing projects, including short comedy clips and animated music videos.

He led all VFX location shooting on TVNZ science fiction show The Cul de sac. He also co-designed and created looks for the post VFX elements, using Maya and After Effects.

At Great Southern, he created title sequences and visual effects for both dramatic and reality television shows.

He lived in London for 6 years, where he gained invaluable experience as an animator and motion graphics designer at studios including Rushes, Introd, Spov, Th1ng and Not To Scale
