Meet Stephen

A rare copywriter / film director combo, Stephen leads creative projects from idea to execution.

He’s created ads for Steinlager, Ford, All Blacks, Spark, Coca-Cola, Lotto, Maybelline and so many more top brands. He’s shot a load of popular and award-winning music vids. And he’s produced branded content that’s generated millions of views. With 15+ years experience, Stephen is the ideal mix of multi-award-winning film and content director and clever copywriter.

He started perfecting his all round production skills as a director and editor at production company Zoomslide. Stephen later leant into his creative strength as Copywriter and Scriptwriter at TVNZ’s BlackSand Productions. Here, he created content for on-air, digital, social media, and radio in a fast-paced, high-volume working environment. He got right in to getting stuff done. So much so, he was quickly promoted to Creative Producer - a role encompassing creative, director, and producer. Over seven super-productive years, Stephen bulit strong client relationships, directed shoots, managed production teams, oversaw budgets and delivered time and time again to ‘testing’ broadcast deadlines.

Since embracing the world of freelance, Stephen has been in high demand. His technical understanding of shoots produces results that far exceed resources. He’s great with talent and guiding authentic performances from non-actors. As an expert in post-production too, he’s the full production package.

He delved deep into technology as lead researcher and scriptwriter of Spark ‘Tech in a sec’ for a while. And when he got the All Blacks hugging bunnies for Ford, the video went viral and Stephen was locked-in as their go-to director.
